Greetings friends!
I hope you all had a happy new year and feel as excited about the upcoming decade as I do. As many of you already know, I had a baby this past November and have been slacking in every way allowable in order to steal some baby-bonding time. But! I am back! And my return brings with it many good intentions for frequent blog updates and other fun ways to breathe new life into the ‘toad. So. I’ll end with the updates:
*We are closed on Sundays for the months of January and February.
*You can start bringing your Spring clothes for trade beginning February 1st.
*Trade hours remain the same, for now: Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10-1.

Things have started off great for us in 2009 and I am very optimistic despite the hard times that seem to have settled upon us all. I hope you all had a nice holiday season and are relaxing into the ongoing rainy season. Many of you all are asking what we are buying right now, so let me address that question here. We are continuing to buy Winter Items through February but will also being starting to buy for Spring effective immediately. So, now is a great time to bring stuff by… We are still buying Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 10-1. Please make an appointment if those times do not work for you.
We have shifted into our winter hours and are open from 10-4 Tuesday through Sunday.

You can do your best to hide, but like it or not… here comes the Holiday Season! Here at LilyToad, we are getting ready and would like to help you motivate to get your gift buying soon soon so you can spend the month of December enjoying your families and eating fattening foods. For many, the holidays are a time of stress often caused by a serious shift in lifestyle and a lack of time. I would like to offer a solution that will not solve all of your problems, but might help.
Part 1: Start your holiday shopping early (before Thanksgiving) and save 25% on all resale items. Save precious dollars and avoid the rush… and best of all, give your little friends gift of style.
Part 2: Feel good about being a low-impact comsumer by shopping resale and buying locally handmade items. Stop by the shop and we will be happy to guide you towards great gift ideas in a low-pressure, dare I say, relaxed environment.

Come trick or treat in Downtown St. Johns! Many merchants in the neighborhood are staying open late and handing out treats. Stop by the LilyToad to decorate a cookie and enjoy a cup of cider. Non-sweet treats will be available as well. The cookies are being lovingly prepared by Morgan of Dovetail Bakery and are sure to be delicious and vegan (for those vegans out there or those with dairy sensitivities.) Whether you are a St. Johns dweller or a Portlander-at-large, we would love to see your face and your costume. For a full list of participating merchants, stop by Ladybug Coffee or the LilyToad to pick up the official map.
We still have a few awesome costumes in the shop so stop by or call if you are in a pinch.
If you need a jacket to wear over those costumes, they are on sale until next Thursday for 25% off.

That’s correct. Many of you have already noticed that Eleanor and I have made an appearance in the October edition of Portland Monthly, (page 64- yup, that’s us. Large and in charge.) If you read through the article, you will learn of my past work with an amazing organization up in Olympia called The Birth Attendants. They provide support services to pregnant women in prison in Washington State. You can learn more about them at www.birthattendants.org.
